Physician-owned Burke Health has completed an expansion, adding two operating rooms to their state-of-the-art facility. The addition of larger operating rooms makes it easier to navigate around larger operating tables, particularly for spine surgery and total hip replacements. There is also additional space to easily get a c-arm in the room for intraoperative x-rays so physicians can clearly visualize orthopedic anatomy in real time during procedures. These larger rooms also make it easier for microscopes for spine surgery to move in and around the room.

“These new rooms are integrated, which means the nurse can control the lights and music, which is very important to the surgeons,” said Lavon Jackson, Director of Surgical Services. “Most importantly, x-ray and MRI images are displayed clearly on the screens for surgeons to easily reference.”
With advanced technology, the surgeons can stand wherever they are in the operating room and look at MRI results during spine cases. The microscope and c-arms can also be connected to the screens so anyone in the room can see from the surgeon’s perspective.
“Patient safety and quality outcomes are at the heart of every decision we make at Burke Health,” said Mike Hester, CEO of Burke Health. “This was a necessary investment to keep up with our continued growth, and it truly sets Burke Health apart as a leader in orthopedic and spine surgery.”
