HomeTown Health, LLC recognized Burke Health as the “Hospital of the Year” from among 70 hospital members across the Southeast at its 24th Annual Fall Conference, held October 18-20, 2023, at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
“In the everchanging healthcare market, it takes consistent leadership as well as wide-spread staff dedication and team-level effort to maintain excellence in patient care and to improve the patient experience, while also making wise financial decisions to ensure long term financial stability, especially in rural markets. Burke Health has shown remarkable effort in maintaining outstanding patient care and accomplishing financial goals over the last few years,” said Kristy Thomson, COO, of HomeTown Health.
Burke Health began two new service lines in Orthopedics and Cardiology that transformed a rural hospital into a center for excellence in Orthopedic and Cardiac Care, with facility improvements that include state-of-the-art equipment and robotics, technologically advanced operating rooms, 24-7 Cardiology coverage, and expanded telehealth capabilities.
“Burke Health has consistently demonstrated outstanding dedication to excellence in healthcare and a commitment to its patients, staff, and rural community. The hospital’s continuous growth and adaptation to the ever-evolving healthcare landscape is truly commendable and has been remarkable to watch.” shared Kristy Thomson, HomeTown Health COO, as she announced the award.
Michael Hester, CEO of Burke Health, accepted the award on behalf of Burke Health and said, “Burke Health is very honored and grateful to have received this award. It is a tribute to our staff’s hard work and commitment to excellence, and our community’s tremendous support of our organization. In addition, we are led by a group of physicians who accept nothing less than excellence in the delivery of patient care. Without any of these components, we would not have achieved the level of success that we have had nor the recognition that this award represents. Thank you, Burke Health, thank you, Burke County, thank you, HomeTown Health.”
