New Cardiologist at Burke Health

Burke Health proudly announced the addition of cardiologist Dr. Kendall Griffith.

Griffith will help lead the way for Burke Health, offering advanced cardiology services aligned with their mission to combat heart health statistics within rural communities by providing easy access to Burke County residents and neighboring communities.

Education & Experience

Griffith comes to Waynesboro with an impressive background.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Morehouse College and attended the University of Miami School of Medicine.

As former CEO of Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital in St. Croix, he established the first Interventional Cardiology program in the Virgin Islands. In addition, he performed the first coronary angioplasty and successfully implanted the first cardiac defibrillator on the Island.

Dr. Griffith proctored the first permanent pacemaker and cardiac defibrillator implantation in St. Lucia & Tortola and was instrumental in training Guyana’s cardiac catheterization laboratory staff.

Hospital Director Speaks Out

Paul Thompson, Director of Cardiology at Burke Health, stated, “Providing cardiovascular care closer to home, when every second counts, means greater patient outcomes. Dr. Griffith and his profound knowledge and expertise will be instrumental in tackling heart-related illness in our community.”

The Part You Can’t Miss

While Griffith’s accomplishments and education before coming to Burke speak volumes for his experience, some may still wonder what kind of doctor he will be in the exam room.

Unknowingly, he gave us the answer his first day at Burke Health.

While making rounds to local medical practices and introducing himself to area physicians, Griffith was shown test results from a patient that had just been sent from the doctor’s office directly to the Emergency Room at Burke Health.

Without hesitation, Griffith left that practice, rushed to the ER, and talked with the attending physician, patient, and family to offer his services, not tomorrow or next week, but that night!

You read it correctly… That NIGHT!

Upon acceptance of his offer, Griffith canceled his remaining meetings for the afternoon, gathered a team, and made all necessary arrangements to scrub in and install a life-saving device in the patient as quickly as possible.

I don’t know about you, but that’s the kind of physician I want in my corner.

  • A man that instinctively exuberates compassion for human life.
  • A man who prioritizes patients over personal interests and obligations.
  • A man who, without hesitation, lends a hand when needed.
  • A man willing to go above and beyond to help fellow humans in their time of need.

His education and experience alone make him a great option for a physician. Combine those with his genuine qualities as a man, and you’ve just found yourself an Outstanding Cardiologist!

Dr. Griffith defines the words “service,” “compassion,” and “empathy,” and we are beyond blessed to have his knowledge and expertise on the team at Burke Health.
